MTEL History: Introduction to Geography Chapter Objectives

The MTEL History exam looks at whether your knowledge of the subject qualifies you for certification to teach history in Massachusetts. The test includes 100 multiple-choice questions divided among three subareas as well as a fourth area that includes two open-response questions. Topics in this chapter are part of the multiple-choice section on geography, government and economics, which accounts for around 25% of test questions. The open-response section of the exam, worth about 20% of your score, includes two items that each call for a response of around 150 to 300 words. Content on geography may also surface in the open-response part.
