### MTEL Math: Basic Arithmetic Operations Chapter Objectives

With approximately 12% of the overall test weighting, the Number Sense and Operations section of the MTEL Math examination will assess your ability to perform basic arithmetic operations. This section is the first of five multiple-choice subareas, and it includes a range of one to three objectives along with 14 to 16 multiple-choice items.

Take the test by computer and apply what you've learned throughout your educational journey when answering the 100 multiple-choice questions and two open-response assignments that span all subareas. Finish in under four hours and earn the required minimum score of 240, and you could qualify for a mathematics teaching license.
