### MTEL Math: Fractions - Chapter Objectives

Five multiple-choice subareas and one open-response section make up the four-hour long MTEL Mathematics examination. Along with decimals, integers, percents and ratios, fractions are a featured part of the *Number Sense and Operations* subarea of the assessment. This is the area in which you'll apply your understanding of this chapter's lessons while pursuing your objective of earning a teaching license in mathematics. *Number Sense and Operations* happens to be the first subarea of the computer-based examination, and there are 14 to 16 multiple-choice questions to answer. It's also worth 12% of the test. Questions that span the whole examination include 100 multiple-choice items and two open-response assignments.

### 4. Changing Between Improper Fraction and Mixed Number Form

Improper fractions and mixed numbers are two different types of fractions. They both have different purposes when using fractions in a problem. In this lesson, you will learn how to convert between these two different forms.

### 5. How to Add and Subtract Like Fractions and Mixed Numbers
