MTEL Middle School Math/Science: Experimental Chemistry Objectives

The MTEL Middle School Mathematics/Science exam assesses whether or not prospective educators meet the qualifications set by the state of Massachusetts to teach these subjects. The exam is scored based on 10 subareas of content, 5 of which related to science and 5 to math. The lessons in this chapter help you to prepare for questions related to chemistry, which account for 8% of the final score.

The MTEL Middle School Mathematics/Science exam is comprised of 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-ended responses. The open-ended responses could be derived from any of the 10 content subareas so it is best to prepare for all of them. The 2 open-ended responses account for 20% of the final score.
