NES Essential Academic Skills Writing: Grammar Errors Objectives

This study guide prepares you for questions about sentence structure and Standard Written English on the NES Writing exam. You'll be asked about issues in sentence formation, such as subject-verb agreement errors, and be expected to locate and edit grammar and mechanics errors in provided text examples. These lessons will also help you to craft a well-executed written response.

The exam consists of 36 multiple-choice questions and one written response. The multiple-choice questions count for 75% of your score with the other 25% coming from the written response. Many states require a passing score on the exam for teacher licensure.
