Ch 37: NES Middle Grades Math: Perimeter & Area

About This Chapter

Prepare for the NES Middle Grades Mathematics exam with these videos on determining the area and perimeter of various geometric shapes. Taking the lesson quizzes and chapter test will help you get your mind ready for test day.

NES Middle Grades Math: Perimeter & Area - Chapter Summary

Getting ready for the National Evaluation Series (NES) Middle Grade Mathematics exam is a cinch with these videos working with the basic formulas for area and perimeter in several shapes. Our instructors walk you through each formula in brief and entertaining videos. The topics of these lessons include:

  • Definitions of perimeter and area
  • Triangle and rectangle perimeters
  • Areas of rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, rhombuses, and parallelograms

Our distinctive study program gives you the opportunity to review these math concepts with ease as you watch the videos and take the brief assessments. Take a look at the lesson transcript and worksheet to see the concepts in print and to practice working out example problems. Don't forget to take the assessments as you go: they will help you identify trouble areas and give you useful practice answering multiple-choice math questions.

NES Middle Grades Math: Perimeter & Area - Chapter Objectives

The material in this lesson falls generally within Objective 0007 in the Measurement and Geometry content domain, which includes about 25% of the test content, though you can expect to use these principles in questions throughout the exam. There are 150 multiple-choice questions total, which you have up to four hours and fifteen minutes to answer. Passing the test requires a score of 220 or higher on the scaled score system from 100-300. Though you will know immediately after the exam whether you passed or failed, your detailed score report will take about two weeks to be published and sent.
