# Ch 9: NMTA Math: Matrix Operations & Determinants

The state of New Mexico has replaced the NMTA Mathematics test with the NES Mathematics exam. As you prepare for the NES Mathematics test, watch the videos in this chapter to improve your understanding of determinants, operations of matrices and inverse matrices.

## NMTA Math: Matrix Operations & Determinants - Chapter Summary

In these lessons, watch our expert instructors work through example problems involving matrices and determinants so that you will be prepared for related questions on the NES Mathematics test. The material covered in this chapter should prepare you for questions about:

• Performing matrix row operations
• Mathematical operations with matrices
• Matrix equations
• Multiplicative inverses of matrices
• Determinants of matrices

If at any point in the chapter you develop a question about the material, be sure to send it to our instructors for clarification. After reviewing the videos, reinforce your understanding of the information presented by completing lesson quizzes.

### NMTA Math: Matrix Operations & Determinants Objectives

The NES Mathematics exam is a computer-based exam composed of 150 multiple-choice questions. On test day, you will be asked to complete these question in a four-hour and 15-minute testing session. Of the questions you will see on this exam, 19% are part of the statistics, probability and discrete mathematics domain; this section may include some some on matrix operations. The activities of this chapter can help you improve your skills working with matrices and determinants so that you will perform well on these questions.
