NMTA Middle Grades ELA: Strategies for Acquiring Vocabulary Objectives

Language arts teachers in the state of New Mexico take the NMTA Middle Grades English Language Arts exam to show their mastery over the knowledge needed to teach students English language arts. This computer-based test asks 150 multiple-choice questions in a three-hour testing session. Twenty-one percent of the material covered by these questions will fall under the domain of Reading Process and Comprehension and Reading in Multiple Subject Areas. This chapter has been assembled to help you prepare for some of these questions to ask you about strategies for developing vocabulary.
