ORELA Middle Grades Math: Number Patterns & Sequences Chapter Objectives

Though the state of Oregon previously used the ORELA exam for this endorsement, they now use the NES (National Evaluation Series) test. This licensure exam is used to measure the skills of those seeking an endorsement for teaching basic math to middle school students.

The exam is computer-based and includes 150 multiple-choice questions. The questions come from four main content areas: number sense and operations; algebra and functions; measurement and geometry; and statistics, probability and discrete mathematics. Sequences may be covered within the statistics, probability and discrete mathematics section; this content makes up approximately 25% of the test questions. You are allotted four hours and fifteen minutes to complete the exam, and you must earn a score of 225 of higher to pass.
