# Ch 13: PLACE Mathematics: Inequalities

Watch this series of lesson videos on inequalities, linear inequalities, compound inequalities, quadratic inequalities and systems of inequalities as you prepare for the PLACE Mathematics teachers' certification exam.

## PLACE Mathematics: Inequalities - Chapter Summary

This chapter on inequalities will help you prepare for the Program for Licensing Assessment for Colorado Educators (PLACE) Mathematics exam by explaining the different forms of inequalities and systems of inequalities, and how to solve and graph them. The expert instructors of this chapter take you through the principles and functions of inequalities so that afterward you will have an understanding of:

• What inequalities are
• How to solve linear inequalities
• Graphing one- and two-variable inequalities
• Systems of inequalities and set notation
• Finding and graphing the absolute value of an inequality

Take lesson quizzes to help reinforce the material you learn and find out what to review before taking the PLACE Mathematics. When reviewing the material, the video timelines can take you directly to key topics in the lessons. This chapter also includes lesson transcripts that highlight key terms in an easy-to-read format. Be sure to ask our instructors to answer any questions you may have while completing this chapter, so that you can effectively master inequalities.

### PLACE Mathematics: Inequalities Objectives

PLACE Mathematics is the paper-based certification exam use to certify math teachers in the state of Colorado. Test takers are given four and a half hours to complete a series of multiple-choice questions. Learning to understand inequalities will prepare you for questions on linear and quadratic functions. These question are a subset of the questions on the functions and relations in mathematics that make up one of the five subareas of the exam.
