Ch 32: PLACE Mathematics: Integration Applications

About This Chapter

When preparing for the PLACE Mathematics exam, watch these videos to review the applications of integration and reinforce your knowledge on calculating volume using integration and dynamic motion.

PLACE Mathematics: Integration Applications - Chapter Summary

This series of lessons demonstrate the use of integration when solving problems on dynamic motion and volume. After you have completed this chapter, you should be prepared to answer questions on the PLACE Mathematics about:

  • Using integration for problems on dynamic motion
  • Calculating volume using single integrals
  • Finding volumes of revolutions with integration

Use the quizzes that accompany the lesson to reinforce your understanding of the material and determine what topics need further review before taking the PLACE Mathematics test. You can also return to the videos to review the material you may not have mastered with video links. Also be sure to ask our instructors any questions you may have to clear up any confusion before taking the PLACE Mathematics test.

PLACE Mathematics: Integration Applications Objectives

The state of Colorado administers the PLACE Mathematics to insure that math teachers in the state understand the material they need to know to perform their academic duties. This paper-based certification exam consists of multiple-choice questions and takes approximately four and a half hours to complete. Of the material covered on the test, 19% are the questions are part of the calculus and discrete mathematics section; this section is where you may find questions including integrals and integration. Use this chapter to prepare yourself for related questions on the application of integration when calculating dynamic motion and volume.
