# Ch 14: Praxis Mathematics: Distance

Prepare for the Praxis Mathematics exam by polishing up your knowledge of distance problems. Video lessons clarify the subject matter, and you can see how much you've learned when you take the self-assessment quizzes in this chapter.

## Praxis Mathematics: Distance - Chapter Summary

The Praxis Mathematics: Content Knowledge exam is an assessment of a broad range of math skills. Problems related to distance could be found in the Calculus section, as well as the Algebra and Number Theory section of the exam. This chapter can prepare you to solve these problems correctly by addressing the following topics concerning distance:

• Distance formulas
• How to use the distance formula
• Related rates

When taking an exam, time management can be just as important as having practical knowledge of the test's subject. The lessons in this chapter will help you find the most efficient route to the correct answer.

### Praxis Mathematics: Distance Objectives

The Praxis Mathematics: Content Knowledge exam is a 50-question, multiple-choice assessment of reasoning and problem-solving skills that you'll need to adapt to various areas of mathematics. The Praxis Mathematics: Content Knowledge test is part of the Praxis exam series typically used for teacher licensure. The goal of the mathematics test is to measure the primary skills of individuals applying for licensure as a secondary-school math teacher. The content of this chapter is aimed at teaching you how to solve problems in two dimensions, including the distance between points and mid-point coordinates. Having this background knowledge will help you show competency in mathematics content.

You will have two hours to complete the Praxis Mathematics: Content Knowledge exam, and a graphing calculator is necessary to take the test. The exam can be taken by computer, or you can take it on paper. The Algebra and Number Theory section of the exam has eight questions, and the Calculus section has six questions, and distance problems may be addressed in either one of these sections.
