1. What is a Proportion in Math? - Definition & Practice Problems
Mathematical proportions are often used by scientists and researchers to compare information. Anytime you hear 'one out of. . .' a mathematical proportion is being used. In this lesson, you will learn the definition of a proportion and how proportions relate to equivalent fractions. When you are finished, assess your knowledge with a short practice quiz.
2. Fundamental Counting Principle: Definition & Examples
In this lesson, you will learn about the fundamental counting principle, a method for determining how many ways choices can be made from groups. Several examples will be given.
3. How to Use the Fundamental Counting Principle
There are many situations in which you will have to make several decisions simultaneously. The fundamental counting principle will help you determine how many different possible outcomes there are when you have to make multiple simultaneous decisions.
4. Math Combinations: Formula and Example Problems
Combinations are an arrangement of objects where order does not matter. In this lesson, the coach of the Wildcats basketball team uses combinations to help his team prepare for the upcoming season.
