# Ch 13: Quadratics & Polynomials

The following online video lessons with quizzes can help you review quadratic and polynomial concepts for the Regents Exam. You can learn all about using factoring, long division and synthetic division in your solutions.

## Quadratics & Polynomials - Chapter Review

A quadratic equation is just a polynomial where the first term is squared. Work on these types of equations has been going on for thousands of years, beginning with the Babylonians. There are various solution methods, and this chapter explains the possibilities. The topics below are all included in these lessons that can help you prepare for the NY Regents Algebra Exam:

• Use of greatest common factor, quadratic formula, FOIL, area method, factoring and division to solve quadratic equations
• Trinomial calculations
• Completing the square
• Dividing polynomials with long and synthetic division

Many of the lessons contain practice problems to give you plenty of experience in solving quadratic and polynomial equations. You can watch the videos, read the transcripts and take the quizzes as often as you like until you feel comfortable with the content.

The video tags can also quickly take you back to targeted sections of the videos for spot reviews. In addition, some lessons include links to extra text-only lessons that can provide even more support for related foundational topics.

### Integrated Algebra Regents Exam Objectives

As the State of New York transitions to the Common Core Learning Standards, the Integrated Algebra test becomes known as the Algebra I exam. All high school students in the state are required to pass five subject-area tests, with scores of at least 65, in order to earn the NY Regents Diploma.

This math test assesses your progress in four areas of math, and the algebra section constitutes 50%-56% of the available points. The three-hour test includes multiple-choice questions, for which the experience with our online self-assessment quizzes can be beneficial.
