  • Resonance: definition and transmission of waves
  • Standing waves
  • Superposition of waves, interferences and wave addition
  • Transverse and longitudinal waves: definition and examples
  • Wave parameters: wavelength, amplitude, period, frequency and speed

Make reviewing for the MCAT simpler with engaging video lessons that use simple, everyday language and examples to make the most important ideas in these topics easy to understand and remember.

MCAT: Waves - Chapter Objectives

The MCAT measures your aptitude for medical school by testing you in general chemistry, biology, physics and organic chemistry concepts. Physical sciences questions make up one of four parts of the test. Biological sciences, verbal reasoning and a trial section are the other three parts.

The physical science section has 52 questions that test your knowledge of scientific concepts as well as your problem-solving abilities. You'll read seven passages and answer 4-7 questions about each one; this accounts for 39 of the questions in this section. The other 13 questions are independent of each other.

The video lessons in the waves chapter each come with self-assessment quizzes, so you can track how well you're learning the material as you complete the lessons. You'll also get practice with the same types of multiple-choice questions you'll see on the MCAT itself.
