World Politics - MTEL Political Science/Political Philosophy Chapter Objectives

Massachusetts uses the MTEL Political Science/Political Philosophy to gauge the level of content-area expertise of teacher candidates as part of its endorsement and certification process. The lessons in our World Politics chapter align with the objectives contained in Subarea III: Comparative Government and International Relations. Subarea III comprises 15% of the exam and contains between 15 and 22 questions out of the 100 total questions on the test.

All of the questions on the MTEL Political Science/Political Philosophy exam are multiple-choice in format. In addition, you will be required to complete two open-response assignments. Your answers will take the form of an essay you must compose in response to a given topic. Your responses should be no shorter than 150 words and no longer than 300 words.
