ASP developers, or action script programming developers, are specific kinds of computer software engineers who use action script and Flash technology to design, code and implement user interfaces, graphics, games and other Web applications. They frequently work for software companies, media enterprises, Web development firms and related businesses. Common duties of ASP developers include planning applications, problem-solving, designing Web solutions, writing and testing code, implementing projects and troubleshooting.

According to O*Net Online in 2016, 88% of computer programmers held a bachelor's degree. However, in some cases, an associate's degree or applicable certificate may be adequate to secure particular positions in the field. Common courses in a bachelor's degree program include computer science, computer architecture, algorithms and data structures, operating systems and software design.

The BLS also stated that the median annual salary for applications developers was $103,620 in May 2018. The majority of ASP developers work full time, although long hours are very common, according to the BLS.
