There are only three schools in Tucson offering programs in accounting: a 2-year community college, a private for-profit institution and 4-year university. Based on accounting program options, number of degrees awarded and school rankings, the following school is considered one of the top schools in the area for accounting degrees:

The University of Arizona offers more than 300 degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The school has a total enrollment exceeding 40,000 students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 21-to-1. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to gain experience and expertise in their field of study outside the classroom, with options for internships, research, campus employment or contributions to the Tucson community.
The Department of Accounting is contained within the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management and offers a bachelor's and two master's degrees in accounting, as well as a Ph.D. In the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting program, students complete at least 21 credit hours of accounting core courses that cover information systems, managerial accounting and financial accounting. The Master of Accounting degree program is comprised of 30 credit hours, and students can choose either an audit track or a tax track. The accounting Master of Science is also 30 credits and includes 18 credits dedicated to accounting coursework. The Ph.D. in Management in Accounting program typically produces graduates pursuing research or professorial positions at universities. A doctoral dissertation is required to complete this program, and courses can include a variety of topics, including economics, financial accounting, taxation and even psychology.
