Some programs include instruction on graphics applications that are used to create financial graphs. It typically takes 36 credit hours, one year, to complete all necessary coursework. Graduates of this program also qualify for voluntary certification, which can increase employment opportunities. A high school diploma or GED is required for this program.

They can also obtain certification like the Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP) by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) offered by the American Payroll Association.
