Essential Information

Many programs are structured to prepare students for FAA airframe and powerplant (A&P) certification because only FAA-certified technicians are allowed to work on aircraft unsupervised. These programs can take 1-2 years to complete. Admission requirements generally include a high school diploma or GED. Applicants typically must pass placement exams in math and writing. Proficiency in English speaking, reading and writing is a requirement for FAA certification. Some programs require students to purchase a set of tools prior to their first class.
