The College of Southern Nevada enrolls more than 33,900 undergraduate students, mainly in associate degree and certificate programs. The school consists of three main campuses in the greater Las Vegas area in addition to nine academic and learning centers. The Department of Media Technology is a part of the college's School of Advanced and Applied Technologies. It offers a variety of programs in videography and film, photography, and computer graphics.

Students of the Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Communications program develop a solid groundwork through general education requirements in subjects like communications, English, mathematics and humanities. They then learn to use graphics and multimedia software to foster skills in illustration, design and animation. Courses included in this associate degree program cover topics such as rendering and illustration, computer animation and digital video editing.

In the Certificate of Achievement in Animation Design program, students gain significant knowledge of graphic technology software and design, illustration and animation skills. The certificate of achievement program has fewer special program requirements, and only one general education credit for communication. Courses include computer graphics and digital media, Web animation and interactivity, and design fundamentals.
