Essential Information

Students can pursue Associate of Individualized Studies (A.I.S.), Associate of Science (A.S.) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees in individualized studies. These programs are designed for students whose educational goals cannot be met in an already-established program. Instead, they tailor a curriculum around their particular fields of interest.

In order to enroll in one of these two-year programs, students must hold a high school diploma or the equivalent and pass entrance exams. Applicants must also outline their intended course of study and declaring an area of concentration may also be required.

Popular Careers

Career options for graduates of an associate's degree program in individualized studies are as numerous as the number of customized degree plans. Continuing Education

After completing the associate's degree program, many students transfer to a 4-year program for further educational training. Some may continue with bachelor's and graduate coursework in individualized studies, while others may elect to focus on earning a degree in a traditional field, such as business, geology, law or sociology.
