Essential Information

Bachelor's degrees in network and communications management are scarce, but many schools offer online bachelor's degree programs in networking and telecommunications or similar fields that cover much of the same information. Other majors with relevant coursework include network and communication management and network security and administration. While many programs are available fully online, some programs allow students to combine on-campus and online classes. Students take courses that give them foundational knowledge in business and technology. They learn about the fundamentals of computer networking, including network security and wireless technology.

Bachelor's Degree in Network and Communications Management

Although a Bachelor of Science in Network and Communications Management is rare, similar programs, including network security and administration and networking and telecommunications cover similar topics. Learners complete courses in management, information technology, business and communication. They explore designing, implementing and maintaining network systems.

Individuals interested in network and communications may also be interested in related programs, such as information technology, computer science and network security administration.

Program Information and Requirements

This online program offers the same courses and assignments as the campus-based programs. In some instances, participants complete courses in seven-week increments to get through the classes faster. For other programs, they get the list of assignments and quizzes a week in advance and then complete the assignments, engage in the lectures, study the lecture notes and participate in online discussions. Learners also have access to the online library so they can complete research projects.

To engage in an online program, participants must have an e-mail account, high-speed Internet access and word processing program. Plug-ins such as Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Real Player are required to play videos. Other requirements include a DVD-ROM, sound card, Web cam and anti-virus software.
