The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) expects employment growth to be about average, at 5%, for sales managers and 8% for advertising, promotions and marketing managers over the 2018-2028 period (www.bls.gov). The median annual pay in May 2019 was $117,130 for advertising and promotions managers, $124,220 for sales managers and $134,290 for marketing managers, according to BLS figures.

The BLS reported wholesale and manufacturing sales representative employment growth is expected to be 2% over the 2018-2028 decade. The May 2018 median pay was $58,510 for those who sold goods other than technical and scientific products, and the median was $79,680 for those who did sell technical and scientific products.

Graduates desiring to advance their sales and marketing careers can apply to a master's degree program in sales or marketing management or pursue an MBA degree. Graduate programs explore marketing and business leadership concepts. Additionally, graduates gain experience through completing internships and projects.
