A certificate program in business management offers a great introduction to business. Students will learn the basics needed for running and managing a business. Regardless of which industry you work in, the ability to lead and supervise people, communicate effectively, and understand how businesses are organized are valuable skills. Also, moving up the corporate ladder typically means moving into a management position. A business administration management certificate will help prepare you for the future.

Certificate programs are available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In order to apply for the undergraduate certificate, students must have a high school diploma or GED, while some form of undergraduate degree is needed for a graduate certificate. In addition to traditional classes, courses can be found online.


Certificate in Business Administration

Students who earn a business administration management certificate will be required to show that they understand many different business principles, such as leadership skills, how to read and interpret accounting reports, basic laws covering business organizations, how to effectively organize people, and how to communicate through written reports, memos, and oral presentations. A business administration certificate program will usually require some or all of the following courses:

Earnings for managers vary depending on the level of management you obtain and the industry you work in. Food service managers, as of May 2015, have a median wage of $48,690, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics (BLS, www.bls.gov). Meanwhile, general and operations managers, measured across multiple industries, were found to have a median wage of $97,730. According to the BLS, openings for food managers will grow by 5% between 2014-2024. However, since management is such a large field, the number of openings per year is greater than many faster growing occupations.

Students seeking certification in business administration learn fundamental business and management skills that can be applied to many different fields. Job opportunities are varied depending on things like experience and other forms of education.
