Portland Community College operates three campuses and seven educational centers in a 5-county region. Opened in 1961 as the adult education extension for the Portland Public School system, the college now serves some 93,000 full- and part-time students. The Sylvania campus, located 10 minutes from downtown Portland, is the largest campus and home to the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department.
PCC offers Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees in computer information systems and in health informatics, as well as an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer for students who wish to continue on to earn a bachelor's degree elsewhere. PCC also offers certificate programs in computer information systems, Java and VerbalBasic.Net applications, and a variety of operating and network subjects. Computer programming classes at PCC cover languages such as C#, Java, Perl, and VB.Net.
