San Bernardino Valley College is a 2-year public institution offering 64 associate's degree and 74 certificate programs to just over 12,000 students per year. The college's Computer Information Technology and Computer Science Departments offer various certificate and associate's degree programs designed to train students for careers as computer technicians.

Required courses in the online Computer Specialist Certificate program introduce students to computer literacy, database management, Microsoft Office applications and computer science fundamentals. Students can also learn C++ and Visual Basic programming languages. Students in the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certificate program includes topics in local and wide area networks, Internet Protocol (IP) and router configuration. The Computer Science Certificate program contains courses in programming and programming languages. Courses in the Computer Engineering Technology Certificate program include DC and AC circuits, semiconductors and microprocessors.

Students can also pursue an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Engineering Technology and an Associate of Science in Computer Science; both have the same coursework as that found in the certificate programs, but have added general education requirements. In the Associate of Arts in Computer Information Technology program, students begin with courses in computer literacy, Internet navigation, database management and networking. More advanced topics of discussion include Structured Query Language (SQL) and Visual Basic programming. Students must also complete general education course requirements in the social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences and humanities.
