According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the majority of dietetic technicians were employed by hospitals, nursing care facilities, and retirement communities in 2018. The BLS also reported that there were around 33,540 individuals working in the profession in total that year. Dietetic technicians earned a median annual salary of $27,140 as of May 2018, according to BLS.
The Commission on Dietetic Registration, a credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association, does offer certification for dietary technicians. Individuals can earn the right to sit for an examination and gain the credential of Registered Dietetic Technician by completing an associate's degree program in the field.
