In a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in organizational management, students examine organizational methodology and theory and their practical applications to businesses and related entities. Ph.D. candidates work closely with faculty to observe and assist staff research and later to draw feedback for their own work. Degree requirements include constructing, presenting and defending a dissertation based on original research.

Most programs take about five years to complete. Some programs are available in hybrid formats that combine online study with on-campus residencies. To apply, students must possess at least a bachelor's degree, although in many cases, a master's degree in management or a related discipline is required. An aptitude for statistics is recommended.
