The BLS also states that executive administrative assistants earned a median annual salary of $53,370 as of May 2015. Postsecondary institutions employed the majority of these assistants that year, and the alcohol industry paid them the highest salaries.

Continuing Education Information

Executive office assistants with experience can often find promotions within an organization. They may also pursue further education, such as associate's or bachelor's degree programs in office management.

Although certification is not required, executive office assistants can obtain certification through the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Executive assistants often choose to become certified to demonstrate their proficiency in office management. Eligible candidates that pass the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certification exam can obtain certification through the IAAP. To renew certification every five years, individuals must meet continuing education requirements.

Executive office assistant programs prepare students for the real world of running an office in a variety of settings. Many programs require hands-on experience in order to graduate, which allows students to master necessary skills like keyboarding and business math in the real world.
