The University of Utah is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state, as well as being Utah's flagship university. It serves more than 32,000 students and features more than 100 total programs. The university has a student-to-faculty ratio of 13 to 1.
The business school's undergraduate finance major includes required major courses such as financial reporting, investments and global coursework. Students pick three electives from numerous areas such as insurance and real estate.
The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) degree program prepares students for job opportunities in investment and financial management. It requires students to complete 30 semester credits, which can be completed in nine months of full-time study. The program prepares a student for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam and provides coursework for both phases of the examination.
The Ph.D. in Business Administration program with a finance specialization takes approximately 4-5 years of full-time study to complete. There are 7 total finance major area courses, with some including economics, pricing and management research. Students spend the first 2 years of the Ph.D. doing coursework and begin a thesis starting in the program's third year.
