Georgia Southern University (GSU) offers more than 115 degree programs. The College of Information Technology at GSU opened in 2003, and it allows students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, or a Master of Science in Computer Science.
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program focuses on theory and computer software systems. This track has a strong emphasis on mathematics. The Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems mainly explores information systems used in business, such as Web database development and electronic commerce. The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology covers IT applications, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Students complete a 280-hour internship and a senior project.
The Master of Science in Computer Science covers data mining, database systems, data warehousing, computer science, artificial intelligence and Web system design. Students have the option of completing a thesis or a research project. Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
