Education and Career Requirements for an Industrial Engineering Technician
Employers usually require industrial engineering technicians to possess an associate's or bachelor's degree in industrial engineering technology or a similar major. An associate's degree in industrial engineering technology may have courses on computer aided drafting, measurements, safety in the workplace, motion study, process control, automated systems, industrial technology, robotics and statistics.
An industrial engineering technician position usually does not require certification, but some employers may request certification such as the quality engineer certification from the American Society for Quality. This certification requires passing a written examination and having eight years of on-the-job experience, although a diploma or degree may qualify to waive a portion of the experience requirement.
