How Gene Magerr is Testing Out of His Degree Program

Gene Magerr is not only a Manager of Network Engineering and Operations and student, but he's also a new dad! He's already earned a number of college credits, but in order to complete his bachelor's degree and advance in his career, he needed to find an affordable and time-efficient way to complete his degree and balance his other responsibilities.

Gene Magerr, Study.com Student

By earning low-cost credit through the College Board's CLEP exams and preparing for the exams with Study.com's CLEP courses, Gene is able to complete his degree much more quickly and affordably than a traditional student. 'I stumbled on to the College Board forum. This is where I discovered it was possible to obtain a bachelor's degree by testing out with CLEP and DANTES tests,' says Gene.

Gene used Excel to make himself a degree plan. 'It tracks when I complete a class and how many credits I have left. I've put dates in there so I can get a sense of how long it's taking me,' he says.

Once Gene had a degree plan, he needed to find some study resources, and Study.com's courses was one of his solutions. 'I recently found Study.com and was very happy to have found it,' Gene says. 'The website is very clean and intuitive. Topics are arranged such that you can focus on learning one or many topics at the same time. As I frequent the website more, I hope to be able to provide feedback from a learner's perspective. I am very glad to see that lessons are actually being added at the rate they are. Keep it up!'

My first interaction with Gene was through feedback he sent us on Henry Mintzberg's Managerial Roles, one of the video lessons in Business 101: Principles of Management. Gene said: 'I am studying for the Principles of Management CLEP. The videos are much easier to watch and just as informative as any of the textbooks I've read. Great job!'

Gene is just one of many success stories who have learned from Study.com's courses. Read more testimonials or browse the catalog of online courses to find the course that you need!
