How to Get an MBA for Free
While the average cost of online MBA programs may be in the tens-of-thousands of dollars, there are a few ways to earn a free online MBA degree. A free online MBA is extremely rare, but below we break down some of the different ways to earn your MBA for free or next to nothing.
Scholarships are always a great option for helping pay for school, with scholarships ranging from tuition assistance or funding for books and supplies to full scholarships that cover tuition, books, and living expenses. Students can look for scholarships through colleges and universities and local and/or outside organizations. There are even databases that compile scholarships from various organizations that are specific to students wishing to study business.
Some employers may offer tuition assistance or even pay for some students who are already working full-time for them to go back and earn their MBA. Typically, students with this option continue working full-time while pursuing their MBA and receive part- or full-tuition reimbursement from their organization. Some companies may even want their employees to pursue an Executive MBA instead of a traditional MBA to help produce qualified leaders and executives for the organization.
Tuition Free Programs
It is extremely rare, but there are at least a couple online, tuition free MBA programs available. Typically, these programs do not charge students for tuition, but may charge students small application fees and/or assessment and exam processing fees. Even with this fee, students may end up only spending a couple thousand dollars in comparison to tens of thousands of dollars earning their MBA.
Free Online MBA courses
Although there are very few free MBA programs, there are a variety of free MBA online learning courses. Typically these courses are offered through universities that upload their MBA study material for free access or through other educational websites that may offer various business-related courses that could be applied to an MBA. For example, there are several universities that offer free, online business entrepreneurship courses and many different free online continuing education courses for business professionals.
Free online MBA courses with certification are rare, but some of these courses may allow students to add a verified certificate for a small fee. Most courses result in a statement of participation. Courses may last as little as 6 weeks in length and could be available to start at a student's earliest convenience. Benefits of Online Learning
Online learning can usually provide an extra level of flexibility to students' schedules as they try to complete their MBA program. Many of these programs are self-paced or may only require 2 to 4 hours of work per week. This may allow students to finish courses faster than in a traditional classroom setting. Students can also access these courses from anywhere they have an internet connection.
