The undergraduate program is available as an online program through the School of Continuing Professional Studies.

Champlain's Master of Science in Digital Forensic Science is an online program available for those planning to pursue leadership in computer forensics. The program highlights management training while offering a broad study of computer investigation and analysis. An online certificate in Computer Forensics and Digital Investigation is also made available to interested students, in addition to a minor in Computer and Digital Forensics.

University of Central Florida

The University of Central Florida's Master of Science in Digital Forensics is an interdisciplinary program that combines curriculum from the engineering, computer science, and criminal justice divisions. Courses include forensics in wireless security, processing of digital evidence, and file system forensics. The University of Central Florida, which is in Orlando, was ranked #93 among all public schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report for 2017.

Boston University

Boston University in Massachusetts offers a Digital Forensics Graduate Certificate for IT professionals who want to specialize in this field. Students gain experience with the forensic analysis tools used in the field, and they also learn about policies and procedures related to digital crime scene investigations. This program is available on campus or in a blended format that combines online studies with weekend class meetings, which is ideal for working professionals.

Alternatively, students at Boston University can pursue the study of digital forensics through broader Master of Science programs in computer science and computer information systems. These programs include elective courses in relevant topics like network security, digital forensics and investigations, mobile forensics, network forensics, and database security. The Master of Science in Computer Science is only offered on campus, while the Master's in Computer Information Systems can be earned on campus, online, or in a hybrid format.

For 2017, Boston University was ranked #39 among all national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Its graduate-level computer science program was ranked #48.
