Mastercam is one of the oldest computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided machining (CAM) programs on the market. Technical drafter and drawing professionals who work with CAD-CAM can improve their career standing by completing a Mastercam training program. A number of private technical schools and public colleges offer Mastercam courses, sometimes as part of a larger manufacturing technology program. The mean salary for mechanical drafters as of 2018 was $59,010, while civil and architectural drafters earned $56,700. Mechanical engineers earned a mean salary of $92,800 and civil engineers $93,720 the same year.
Continuing Education Information
There are associate's and professional-level Mastercam certifications. The former offers exams for mill, advanced mill and lathe. The latter has exams for mill-CPgmM, lathe-CPgmT academic CpgmM and CpgmT. The National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI), which has a partnership with Mastercam, also offers a certification exam.
