Situated in the Dranesville District of Fairfax County, McLean was home to 48,115 people at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census. Residents enjoy small-town life but also have easy access to the amenities of larger cities, like Washington, D.C., and Arlington, Virginia. As of 2010, McLean's population was approximately 79 percent white and nearly 15 percent Asian. The community's median income for 2010-2014 was $188,639, more than triple the median of $53,482 for all U.S. residents.

The weather in McLean is moderate in both winter and summer. The community is home to several private and public golf courses as well as pool and tennis clubs. McLean also boasts numerous public parks, which give residents and visitors access to hiking and biking trails and a wide variety of summer concerts and activities.
