Through this class, students discover how the human body develops over time, including social, intellectual and emotional changes and growth. They discover how children, adolescents and adults act and react.


This class introduces students to crime in the U.S. and offers an overview of the process that can lead to criminal behavior. Students study crime causation, criminal behavior and the judicial process.

Family Unit

Students study the structure and purpose of the family in this class. They learn about the different life stages and modern problems with the family and family life. They study the divorce rate and factors leading to divorce and separation.

Career Information

Due to the wide variety of concentrations available within the field of sociology, there are many career opportunities available to students. While many careers require a master or doctorate degree in the field, some opportunities available with a bachelor's degree include working as patrol officers, social workers and possibly some entry-level positions as political scientists or social scientists.
