Essential Information

Through an online master's degree program in Spanish education, individuals can learn techniques for teaching the Spanish language. These programs could lead to degrees such as a Master of Arts in the Teaching of Languages or a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Spanish. A Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Spanish language is also available.

Fully online master's degree programs in Spanish education are uncommon, though there are a few available options. Some programs may offer a portion of the coursework in a distance learning format but require students to complete some campus-based classes and in-person practical training.

Applicants typically need to hold a bachelor's degree in Spanish or pass a Spanish language competency test. They may already have experience working in teaching and wish to develop their professional skills or may want to begin a career in teaching. Students who do not hold a state teaching certification may need to complete additional teacher training courses and a student teaching practicum before applying for licensure.
