What is Six Sigma?

Six Sigma is a business concept that focuses on improving the operational performance of a company using mathematics and statistical analysis. Companies and organizations use this concept to create near perfect-business plans by providing results in which there are no more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A defect in the process is defined as anything outside of consumer satisfaction.

How Six Sigma Works

All decisions made in Six Sigma are done using statistics that have been collected and verified. This concept functions by employing both technical and management skills to boost performance. Managers using the Six Sigma approach match projects with individuals who are able to complete them in an efficient manner. The technical side involves analyzing data to verify these relationships and identifying key processes using statistical calculation software.
