Texas State University enrolls more than 38,600 students at its San Marcos campus, which is located about 45 miles northeast of San Antonio. It offers nearly 200 degree programs at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree levels through nine colleges. CAD and drafting courses are available through the Department of Engineering Technology, which is part of The College of Science and Engineering.
The Department of Engineering Technology offers a Bachelor of Science in Technology (BST) with a major in engineering technology that has five specialization options; CAD courses are part of the construction engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology and mechanical engineering technology specializations. Students in other programs may also choose to take CAD courses as a technology elective. Students in the computer-aided design course learn 3D modeling, geometric dimensioning and engineering documents production. Additional courses cover topics in manufacturing materials, robotics, quality assurance and facilities design. Computer-aided design and modeling is also covered within the Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management. These courses cover architecture drafting and design, building modeling, exterior and interior drawings and details, and the creation of architectural documents.
