The Computer Studies Department at BC features programs in computer science, software development and web development. Both certificate and associate's degrees are available.
The Associate of Science in Computer Science is designed for students wanting to transfer to a 4-year university, particularly those in the California State University system. This program emphasizes computer science, engineering, math and science. Electives provide exploration of programming, data structures and network technologies such as CompTIA Linux+.
The Certificate in Web Development prepares students to enter the work force or pursue further education in computer technology. Design classes feature Dreamweaver, Flash and HTML, and students are trained in the use of typography, digital art and illustration. Programming courses cover Java, Visual Basic and Active Server pages. The 18-credit CompTIA certificate program focuses heavily on training for CompTIA certifications, and the 18-credit software development certificate program emphasizes programming and web design.
