Affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA, Ottawa University began operations in 1974 and established its first graduate degree program - the Master of Arts (M.A.) in Human Resources - in 1987. The M.A. in Human Resources and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a human resources concentration are the two relevant graduate programs available on this campus, along with human resources bachelor's programs.
The Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources program at OU requires the completion of several core classes in accounting, administrating salaries and benefits, HR administration, organizational behavior, staffing procedures and training methods. Concentrations are offered in global operations, entrepreneurship, health care management and leadership and management. A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a human resources concentration is also available.
The Master of Arts in Human Resources program is designed for working adults. The program offers two optional concentrations - leadership and management or healthcare management. A thesis track is not required, but is offered. The 36 required course hours cover employee placement, human behavior and the workplace, human resources issues and trends, human resource financial planning and capstone case studies. The MBA program also offers a concentration in human resources.
