Located about ten miles outside of Henderson in the large city of Las Vegas, the University of Nevada - Las Vegas is a 4-year, public school offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university offers more than 200 degree programs, which are divided among 10 academic schools and colleges, as well as a Graduate College and Honors College. The College of Business features the Department of Management Information Systems, which offers an undergraduate degree, a graduate degree and dual-degree options in the field.
Students in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - MIS program learn to develop management information systems, maintain those systems and use them to meet business needs. Core courses cover systems analysis and design, programming, project management and database systems. Students of the Master of Science in MIS program gain a solid understanding of both business and IT processes. Courses emphasize both theory and practice, while covering the basics of business intelligence, systems planning, technology innovation, information systems project management and advanced Web development. A dual Master of Business Administration (MBA)/Master of Science in MIS program is also offered. This 57 credit-hour program includes such courses as statistical analysis, managerial finance, accounting management, organizational law and strategy formation processes. A graduate certificate in MIS is also available.
