There are around 20 schools in the Dallas area offering accounting programs. Programs in the area range from accounting certificates offered by community colleges through to doctoral programs offered by large universities. Based upon the number of business-based accounting program options, rankings by national organizations, and CPA pass rates, the following school is considered one of the top ranked schools for business accounting in the Dallas area:
- Winner: University of Texas at Arlington (UT - Arlington) offers two undergraduate program, one combined bachelor's-master's program and four graduate degree programs, as well as an undergraduate minor in accounting. Its business school, through which the accounting programs are offered, is nationally ranked, and students who graduate from its graduate programs have a high pass rate on the CPA exam.

UT - Arlington is the academic home of over 33,000 students. Located in the Dallas metropolitan area between Dallas and Ft. Worth, the university is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Research University with High Activity. The College of Business at UT - Arlington serves about 5,600 students, and its accounting program is the second largest in the University of Texas system.
At the undergraduate level, UT - Arlington offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting (BBA). The BS program provides more accounting-specific coursework, while the BBA program provides a broader business focus. Graduate options include a Master of Public Accounting, Master of Science (MS) programs in accounting and in taxation, and a 5-year Professional Program in Accounting which combines either the BS or BBA in accounting with one of the MS programs (either taxation or accounting). A Ph.D. in Business Administration with a primary field in accounting rounds out the accounting degree programs offered at UT - Arlington.
