Northern Virginia Community College is a 2-year, public school that serves more than 75,000 students per year. NOVA has campuses in Alexandria, Annandale, Loudon, Manassas, Springfield and Woodbridge--in addition to several centers and a distance-learning program.
Students enrolled in the web design and development certificate program are expected to gain the skills necessary to design and organize a website from scratch. Specific courses include software design, advanced design for the web and web scripting languages.
The associate's degree in communication design program is primarily for students who aspire to become graphic designers, multimedia designers or web designers. The program focuses more specifically on design elements as opposed to web programming and development. However, students are required to take a web design course that can provide them with the necessary skills to design websites.
