Originally a private college when established in 1883, Chaffey College transitioned to a community college in 1916. In addition to its main campus in Rancho Cucamonga, the college operates campuses in Chico and Fontana. The main campus is located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains and is home to more than 19,000 students. Through its digital media program, the school offers aspiring Web designers the opportunity to complete either an associate's degree or certificate program.
The Computer Graphic Design for Print Media Certificate with an emphasis on Web Design and the Associate of Arts in Digital Media with a Computer Graphic Design for Print Media emphasis share the same Web design coursework. Students will take classes in drawing, editing, typography, design history and beginning photography. The associate's degree program includes courses in 2D design, graphic design and multimedia, as well as general education requirements. Students must also complete a portfolio.
