Trident Technical College is a 2-year public school. Established in 1963, today the college manages four campuses. Its Division of Business Technology offers computer programming degree and certificate programs through the Department of Information Systems. In 2013, more than 700 students were enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology program, with 32 enrolled in three certificate programs offering courses in computer programming.
The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology program consists of 72 credit hours of study. Students complete a curriculum geared towards a computer programming career path, and courses teach students about building software applications using Java, C++ and Visual Basic programming languages. A few certificate programs focus on or include computer programming concepts and processes. The 18-credit hour Certificate in Microcomputer Programming focuses on providing students with knowledge of how to use programming languages to build multifaceted websites. The 24-credit hour Certificate in Mobile Application Programming contains courses in advanced Java programming, programming logic, hand-held computer programming and object-oriented design. A 26-credit hour Certificate in Internet Programming provides study in Linux essentials, Web page programming, data assurance and systems management.
