Located in the Capitol Hill area of the city, Seattle Central College offers undergraduate degree and certificate programs to more than 7,000 students per year. The Business, Information Technologies and Creative Arts Division offers degree and certificate programs in database administration and development, network design and administration, programming, Web design and Web development.

The 96-credit Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology - Web Design program focuses on Web production, writing, animation and authoring. Students learn the essentials of computer programming and develop advanced skills in typography and database development. They develop techniques for creating positive user experiences and become proficient with design software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Illustrator. Students seeking the Web design certificate must complete 66 credits and take several of the same courses as in the 2-year degree program, such as those in Web authoring, programming and database development.

The Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology - Web Development, also a 96-credit program, differs from the above program in that the curriculum focuses more on the creation of databases and use of programming languages. Coursework covers topics such as technical writing, Visual Basic, Javascript, HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The program teaches students to create professional portfolios, work with team members and develop dynamic, user-friendly and interactive websites. The Web development program is also offered as a certificate program, which is about three quarters in length.
